Huawei overtakes Intel with its Chinese partner!

Ana sayfa / Processor

Huawei made a big impact with the Kirin processor developed together with SMIC. It was stated that China-based chipmaker SMIC reached record-breaking growth. According to the company’s 2024 first quarter revenues, it turned out to be the third largest chip manufacturer in the world.

SMIC, China’s largest chipmaker, has overtaken Intel with its latest revenue report. According to research, TSMC holds 62 percent of the market. Right behind it is Samsung Electronics with a 13 percent share. SMIC is now in third place with 6 percent production.

The data for the first quarter of the year came from production with Huawei and other partners. SMIC, the great alternative to the restrictions imposed by the US, announced that it generated $1.75 billion in revenue in the first quarter. Most of it came from its Chinese partners.

Smaller and more powerful! 32GB NVIDIA RTX 5090 leaked

NVIDIA is moving to a new card design with the RTX 5090. The company will split the main module into three and may include 32GB of VRAM.

But SMIC’s rise has also brought controversy. The presence of SMIC’s Kirin 60s processor in the Huawei Mate 9000 series raised the issue of whether it violated US sanctions. Both SMIC and Huawei have faced US scrutiny.

On the other hand, the global chip market contracted by 5 percent in the first quarter due to stagnant demand from smartphones, IoT and automotive sectors. It was also stated that companies cut production by investing in artificial intelligence chips.

SMIC is likely to keep its third place from Intel. We will see what companies working on 2nm processors with Huawei will do over time.
